Access to Third Party Information Sensitization Sessions Back on the Road

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is back on the road with a series of stakeholder meetings with members of the Petroleum, Hotel, Medical, Distribution, Telecommunications sectors as well as several government entities, to sensitize them on the technical and legal aspects of the Access to Third Party Information requirement. The ‘hands-on’ sessions are aimed at assisting these select taxpayers with uploading third party data to TAJ’s Revenue Administration Information System (RAiS) and meeting the submission deadline of August 31, 2018.

TAJ’s Third Party Data web-service is an online facility, which is accessed via the RAiS platform, and allows all third party reporting entities to upload and submit annual third party data as required by the tax authority for use in compliance activities, from the convenience of their offices.

This financial year 168 entities are required to submit their third party information to the tax authority. TAJ expects to sensitize approximately 150 persons in this phase of the island wide sessions, which will be completed in June 2018 to help business entities meet their tax obligation.

This new approach to taxpayer education, forms part of the tax authority’s stakeholder engagement strategy designed to build partnerships and foster voluntary compliance, while connecting in a more personal and interactive manner. The sessions will continue island-wide as TAJ seeks to change the way it does business by actively engaging the public in various ways.
