Income Tax Returns for 2020 as well as their Estimated Returns for 2021. The Tax Authority provides support to hundreds of business persons and self-employed individuals, who earn $10M or less, through its annual island wide Special Taxpayer Assistance Programme (STAP). However this year as the organization continues to observe its COVID safety protocols it will be conducting these support sessions differently. This means that Income Tax filers can access the usual support from their local Tax Offices through an appointment system, with the safety of its staff and clientele in mind.
Business persons and self-employed individuals can make use of these special tax support sessions which runs until March 31, by contacting their local Tax Office to make an appointment, allowing them to sit with TAJ personnel who will help them to file their Returns, and register for the convenience of our eServices ahead of the usual March 15 Tax Office rush.
Income Tax Filers are asked take along their income and expenditure statements, valid identification and their Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) to make the most of their scheduled visit. To make appointments, persons can contact any of the listed Tax Offices via the dedicated lines listed in the March 15 Income Tax Hub at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm for their convenience. Additional information support is available in the Hub, where persons will be able access literature, updated forms and other information relating to Income Tax filing.
The Tax Authority will also utilise a mix of additional support features for taxpayers as part of its enhanced Income Tax support this year, these include; virtual sessions, video tutorials and telephone calls.
Persons are urged to cooperate with the instructions of security personnel at its locations, to form an orderly line and maintain the recommended social distance of at least 6 feet. The necessary COVID safety protocols have been implemented for the safety of its staff and clients.
The public is reminded that the all Income Tax Returns MUST be filed online via TAJ’s online portal at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm on or before the March 15 due date. This means self-employed persons, corporate bodies, organizations such as Partnerships, Trusts, Estates, Building Societies, Life Assurances as well as registered Charities, must now file their Income Tax Returns and supporting documents online.
Companies, Partnerships, Other Bodies, Self-employed Individuals, Persons with multiple employment and employed persons with other sources of income are advised to ensure that they use the correct form related to their type of business/activity, for the corresponding tax year to ensure that the Returns are filed accurately.
