February 2025 (S01) Statutory Deductions Deadline Extended to March 18
Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising employers that the deadline for monthly statutory deductions (S01) for February, has been extended to Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising employers that the deadline for monthly statutory deductions (S01) for February, has been extended to Tuesday, March 18, 2025. The extension has been granted, after careful consideration of the challenges being experienced by clients today with the Authority’s online services. The extensions means that statutory liability filers have until March 18, 2025 to honour their filing and payment obligations without the application of interest penalties.
Employers are urged to make their payments on/before the extended deadline to benefit from an Employment Tax Credit (ETC). Such employers may claim the total amount of payroll statutory contributions for Education Tax, NHT, NIS and HEART, that is, both the employee and employer portions, which have been declared and paid on time for each month of that year. Please note, that the maximum amount, which can be claimed, is thirty percent (30%) of the Income Tax payable in the year of assessment for unregulated entities.
Businesspersons are reminded of the suite of payment options at their fingertips, which includes via the TAJ Direct Funds Transfer process for business-related tax payments. This is in addition to customers being able to make payments via the Tax Authority’s website www.jamaicatax.gov.jm using a credit card, or other banking card with credit card features.
Additionally, taxpayers can utilize Scotia OnLine and Mobile App, in addition to being able to make tax payments via the National Commercial Bank, as the respective clientele are able to use their online banking platforms by adding TAJ as a Payee.
Income Tax filers are being reminded of the opening the Kingston Revenue Service Centre, Downtown this Saturday only, to support their preparations for filing their Final Income Tax Returns. Regular weekday business with the exception of audit services will also be able to be conducted, these include access to taxpayer services including same day driver’s licence processing, motor vehicle registration and other motor vehicle transactions. Persons may also apply for a Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN), and make tax and fee payments.
The Portmore Tax Office will continue its usual weekly Saturday operations, with business hours 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.
