International Partners Strengthen TAJ Transfer Pricing Capacity

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) recently hosted consultants from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and from Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB), to provide technical training for its staff in the area of Transfer Pricing as well Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS). This two week capacity building activity is yet another step in a series of exercises to further enhance the compliance capabilities of the tax authority.

Mr. Steffen Scholze a tax expert with TIWB, through the German Ministry of Finance, has been providing specific training and support in the area of auditing since 2017. This is designed to enhance TAJ’s skill set in the complex fields of Transfer Pricing and tax planning by using real world cases from the Jamaican jurisdiction. Mr. Diego Gonzales the consultant with the OECD was also involved in this joint training activity as part of the OECD’s continuing programme of training and support to Tax Administration Jamaica on international tax issues which began in 2015.

Both international facilitators worked with the TAJ auditing teams to up-skill them in the areas of BEPS and Transfer Pricing during the joint two week training session. Tax Administration Jamaica continues to collaborate with its international partners to enhance its overall tax compliance and enforcement capabilities, contributing to the improvement of Jamaica’s economic competiveness, through a robust and dynamic tax administration system.
