Mobile Property Tax Unit Resumes Service
Property owners are advised that the Mobile Property Tax Unit will resume operations in St. Andrew and St. Ann on Wednesday May 20, 2020.
Property owners are advised that the Mobile Property Tax Unit will resume operations in St. Andrew and St. Ann on Wednesday May 20, 2020. The service, a joint initiative of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development and Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ), had been suspended since March, as part of the Covid-19 public health and safety strategies implemented to curb the spread of the disease.
Taxpayers are invited to make use of this service which will be available over a three-day period beginning on Wednesday May 20, 2020. In St. Andrew, the Mobile Unit will be located at the Constant Spring Tax Office, while in St. Ann, the Unit will be at the St. Ann’s Bay Tax Office from Wednesday to Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Persons visiting these locations will be able to use the Mobile Unit to pay their property tax, using cash, debit or credit card. The move is expected to shorten the wait time at these locations.
To protect customers and staff, the usual health and safety guidelines will also apply in accessing the service at the Mobile Property Tax Units. Customers will be required to wear a mask, hand sanitize, have their temperature checked and maintain physical distancing while they wait.
The public is also reminded that TAJ resumed the collection of Property Tax at all Tax Offices on Monday, May 18, following a temporary suspension at some of its offices in an effort to ease crowding at those locations.
As an alternative to the Mobile Property Tax Unit or the in-branch collection available at all Tax Offices, taxpayers are encouraged to make Property Tax payments online at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm. This safer, stay at home or work option allows a convenient 24/7 option, using a KeyCard, MasterCard or Visa credit card or Visa debit card, that has credit card features. Persons should have the valuation number at hand to pay online.
