Old Harbour Business Man Arrested For Tax Delinquency

Tax Administration Jamaica’s (TAJ), Special Enforcement Team (SET) supported by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), conducted an operation to arrest a delinquent taxpayer in Old Harbour, St. Catherine for non-payment of outstanding taxes totalling $5M.
Zepheniah Aarons, Principal Director of Jamaica Metal & Recycling Project Ltd was arrested on a Court Judgement Order for failure to honour his outstanding tax obligations of Individual Income Tax of approximately $5,418,877.67 (IIT). The Court Order was issued on October 24, 2014, however Mr. Aaron failed to liquidate his tax liability in the time specified by the Court.
Delinquent taxpayers are advised, that any default on payment arrangements or court orders, will result in robust enforcement action by TAJ using any of the various tools provided for under the law. Persons may get further information on payment arrangement facilities by contacting the TAJ Customer Care Centre at 1-888-TAX-HELP (1-888-829-4357) or the nearest Tax Office.
