Saturday Opening on last day of Traffic Ticket Amnesty

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) will open several offices this Saturday January 13, coinciding with the last day of Traffic Ticket Amnesty, to facilitate members of the public paying their outstanding traffic ticket fines. The following Tax Offices will operate between the hours of 10am – 2pm:

• Kingston
• Constant Spring
• Mandeville
• Montego Bay
• Spanish Town
• Port Maria
• May Pen
• Santa Cruz
• Savanna-la-mar
• St. Ann’s Bay

The Portmore Tax Office will continue its regular Saturday opening time from 10am to 4pm.

Motorists will be able to utilize the Saturday opening to pay their traffic fines inline or online using the designated eTaxSpots at any of the listed locations. Taxpayers are reminded that they must have either the ticket number or the traffic ticket itself to facilitate easy payment either at tax offices or online via the TAJ Portal atwww.jamaicatax.gov.jm

Employers filing their monthly Statutory Deductions (S01) for the month of December, will also be able to avail themselves of the Saturday convenience ahead of the January 15, due date.

All usual weekday services, including the renewal of Driver’s Licences, will be accessible as the tax authority continues to provide greater convenience to access its services. However, audit and compliance activities will not be available during the Saturday operation.

TAJ ishowever encouraging persons to utilise the online payment facility to avoid the expected rush at tax offices. It also provides a fast, secure and convenient option for persons wishing to clear their outstanding fines. Walk-in customers are also urged not to wait until the last day of the amnesty to visit tax offices, to avoid delays due to the expected increased customer traffic.

The tax authority TAJ has collected approximately $86m in outstanding traffic fines and processed approximately 51,000 tickets since the start of this phase of the amnesty on November 27.
