Second Traffic Ticket Amnesty Ends Soon

With less than two weeks until the January 13 end of the second traffic ticket amnesty, Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) has begun seeing increased numbers of persons visiting tax offices and logging on to its website to pay outstanding traffic fines. TAJ has collected approximately $71m in outstanding traffic fines and processed approximately 38,000 tickets since the start of this phase of the amnesty on November 27.

Persons may opt to utilize the convenience of the online payment option by visiting www.jamaicatax.gov.jm using any valid credit card or by visiting any tax office island wide. Persons also have the option of conducting their online transaction at any major Tax Office at the designated eTaxSpot, to get support from TAJ personnel while conducting their online traffic ticket transactions.

TAJ is however encouraging persons to utilise the online payment facility to avoid the expected rush at tax offices. It also provides a fast, secure and convenient option for persons wishing to clear their outstanding fines. Walk-in customers are also urged not to wait until the last few days of the amnesty to visit tax offices, to avoid delays due to the expected increased customer traffic.

Motorists are reminded that they must have the outstanding ticket(s) or ticket number(s) in hand to make the payment online or at any tax office. Persons with queries about any outstanding tickets are directed to contact the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Call Centre at 948-0411 Mondays to Friday (8am-4pm).
