St. Catherine Business Persons Arrested for Failure to Pay Taxes

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) brought four St. Catherine Business persons before the St. Catherine Resident Magistrate’s Court for failing to pay outstanding General Consumption Tax (GCT), Income and Education Taxes totalling approximately $4M. The St. Catherine North and South Police supporting the tax authority’s Special Enforcement Team (SET), arrested the delinquent business persons who operate in the Spanish Town and Portmore communities.

Christopher Reid and Renoree Graham were arrested on Warrants of Disobedience for Failure to Pay Individual Income Tax and Education Tax in the amount of $2,047,633.72 and $118,856.83 and were subsequently granted bail in the sum of $200,000.00 and own surety respectively. Garfield Smith was arrested on a Bench Warrant for Failure to Pay Individual Income Tax in the amount of $354,707.00 and was also granted bail in the amount of $100,000.00

Director of Flambouyance Company Limited, Stennett Clarke was arrested on a Warrant of Disobedience for Failure to Pay GCT amounting to $1,424,369.28 and was granted bail of $200,000.00.

Delinquent taxpayers are advised, that any default on payment arrangements or court orders, will result in enforcement action by TAJ using any of the applicable provisions under the law.
