Stamp Office to Close for Relocation

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising customers that the Stamp Duty and Transfer Tax Office will be closed to the public on Thursday, February 8 and Friday, February 9, 2024 to facilitate a relocation exercise. The Stamp Office and will reopen at its new location (72 Harbour Street, Air Jamaica Building) on Monday, February 12, 2024. 

As a result of the closure, customers will have until FEBRUARY 7 to conduct business at the current location. During the period, persons will have the option to visit the King Street Tax Office, to make Stamp Duty related payments.

Additionally, clients will be treated to a service improvement feature with the ability to track the progress of their Stamp Duty and Transfer Tax transactions via their web accounts, without physically visiting the office or calling to make enquiries. Persons will be required to register for e-services and have the requisite login. 

The Tax Authority offers its expanded Direct Funds Transfer (DFT) payment channel which includes Stamp Duty and Transfer Tax as a payment type, as well as its Scotia Bank account as a beneficiary account. This means that in addition to the ability to make payments for Payroll Deductions, Income Tax, Consumption Taxes, Trade and Business Licences, as well as several other business-related taxes, customers now also have the ability to make Stamp Duty and Transfer Tax payments using the convenient DFT option.

Customers are reminded that they have a suite of other online payment options at their fingertips, these include making payments via the Tax Authority’s website www.jamaicatax.gov.jm using a credit card, or other banking card with credit card features or using the Scotiabank’s electronic funds transfer via TAJ’s website.

Additionally, taxpayers can utilize Scotia Online and Mobile App, in addition to being able to make tax payments via the National Commercial Bank, as the respective clientele are able to use their online banking platforms by adding TAJ as a Payee.

All services currently offered at the existing location will continue to be available at the new offices, come Monday, February 12 at 8:30am when it opens to the public. The move comes as TAJ continues to re-engineer its operations to improve service and increase efficiency.
