TAJ Continues Property Tax Special Enforcement Operation in Spanish Town

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) and the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation will be conducting a Property Tax Special Enforcement Operation in Spanish Town from Friday, June 27 to Sunday, June 29, 2025. The targeted communities are Angels Estate, Angels Grove, Frenchman’s Heights and Green Acres. This initiative forms part of a broader effort to improve compliance and collections of property taxes across the island.

The Spanish Town Operation will focus on delinquent property owners who have not settled their tax obligations, despite having the means to do so. The activities planned for the weekend will include door-to-door visits by team members to residents to serve final notices and provide information; the collection of property tax; and the facilitation of payment arrangements at the Mobile Tax Collection Units stationed in the communities of Angels Grove and Green Acres. Additionally, compliant residents will be awarded congratulatory letters and tokens.

The first phase of the St. Catherine’s operation, conducted in Portmore, has yielded positive outcomes so far. As of June 10, 2025, exactly two days after the operation, the compliance rates of Caribbean Estates and Phoenix Park Phase 1 increased by 92% and 124%, respectively, when compared to the rates of May 12, 2024.

The Authority encourages all delinquent property owners to make their outstanding payments. After September 30, 2025, enforcement actions will be taken against property owners with unpaid taxes in the targeted communities.
