TAJ Hosts CARICOM Two Day Workshop

Participants and Facilitators of the two day CARICOMOECD Workshop (September 17-18, 2018) to hold discussions on BEPS in the Caribbean Region.

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ), is hosting over 35 participants from several Caribbean states including several Jamaican representatives at a CARICOM-OECD Workshop, September 17-18, 2018 in Kingston Jamaica. The two day workshop will provide CARICOM Member States with an opportunity to discuss the impact and progress of the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Project in the Caribbean Community, while sharing experiences that demonstrate good practices of BEPS priorities and their implementation.

The workshop is being facilitated by OECD experts and focuses on the BEPS Minimum Standards, addressing preferential regimes and double taxation agreements as priorities for the CARICOM Member States. Participants will be exposed to international facilitators from the OECD; Diego Gonzalez, Nangel Kwong and Maikel Evers, who will be sharing their experiences regarding the implementation of BEPS Minimum Standards.

Tax policy advisers, tax professionals and administration officials from Member States will also exchange views on the policy reforms and decisions, that may be required to align CARICOM tax regimes with the standards and requirements regarding international taxation matters. It is expected that at the end of the workshop, participants would have been able to identify an indicative BEPS implementation agenda, to be pursued by CARICOM Member States.
