TAJ Launches Major Upgrade to its Revenue Administration InformationSystem (RAIS)

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) has officially commenced its Revenue Administration Information System (RAIS) Upgrade Project, marking a major step in the continued modernization of Jamaica’s tax administration. Theproject, which was formally launched on Thursday, March 12, 2026, will see TAJ upgrading its existing RAIS platform GENTAX version 10, originally implemented in 2014, to the latest CORE 26 version in partnership with FAST Enterprises. 

The RAIS CORE 26 Upgrade Project, scheduled for completion in March 2027, represents a strategic investment in enhancing TAJ’s digital infrastructure to better serve taxpayers, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen revenue administration. The upgraded system will deliver amorerobust, secure, and user-friendly platform, supporting faster processing, improved data management, and increased system reliability.

Commissioner General of TAJ, Ainsley Powell, underscored the significance of the initiative, stating: “The upgrade will improve on our interactions withour valued customers and the product will assist us on our continued journey to be a world-class Tax Administration.”

The upgraded CORE 26 system will introduce several enhancedfeatures, including:

• Customer Flow Management (Queueing and Appointments)
• Customer Relationship Management module
• Enhanced compliance features
• Enhanced KPIs, reporting and analytics
• Enhanced security features
• E-Services Assistant
• Announcements

RAIS has been central to the operations of TAJ and the expansion of its digital services over the past decade. The system has enabled the Authority to facilitate 100 per cent online filing of tax returns and to introduce an ever-expanding suite of digital services. Among the most recent innovations is the convenient online renewal of motor vehicle registration for private motor vehicles, significantly improving accessibility and convenience for taxpayers.

The RAIS CORE 26 upgrade project will be implemented seamlessly to ensure minimal disruption to ongoing operations, with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and change management. TAJ will continue to provide timely updates to taxpayers and partners throughout the implementation process.

This initiative aligns with the Government’s broader digital transformation agenda and reinforces TAJ’s commitment to improving easeof doing business, increasing voluntary compliance, and delivering world-class serviceto the Jamaican public.
