NEWS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Convenient Payment Options Available as 2026-2027 Property Tax Season Begins
Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising property owners that Property Tax for the 2026–2027 fiscal year became due on April 1, 2026. Current Property Tax liabilities are now available on TAJ’s system, which may be paid in full or through half-yearly or quarterly instalments on April 1 and October 1 or April 1, July 1, October 1 and January 1, respectively, using a wide range of payment channels.
TAJ is encouraging taxpayers to take advantage of its fast, convenient digital services. Payments may be made online at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm using a credit card or EVM chip-enabled debit card. Taxpayers may also check their liabilities using the online query feature on the TAJ website, with access to records for up to seven (7) years.
Property owners may also enhance their digital experience by using the TAJ Mobile App (available on Android), which supports payments, property searches, payment history, reminders and office locations.
Additionally, customers of National Commercial Bank and Scotia Bank can pay their Property Taxes through their respective online banking platforms by adding Tax Administration Jamaica as a payee.
Taxpayers using digital channels are reminded to have their valuation number ready to complete transactions.
For those who prefer in-person options, they may visit any of the 29 Tax Offices located across the island. Select Tax Offices are also open on month-end Saturdays, while the Portmore Tax Office regularly opens on Saturdays. Alternatively, payments can also be made through the Mobile Tax Collection Units, operated by the Ministry of Local Government in collaboration with TAJ. These units visit designated communities on a scheduled basis, accepting cash as well as credit and debit card payments.
Under the law, property owners have until April 30, 2026 to make payments without the application of penalties. While this period has been extended in recent years to June 30, coinciding with the end of the first quarterly payment, taxpayers are encouraged to meet the statutory deadline and remain compliant.
Taxpayers are also urged to settle any outstanding balances for prior years to avoid enforcement actions, such as court proceedings or the garnishment of income.
For additional information, taxpayers may contact the TAJ Customer Care Centre at 888-TAX-HELP (888-829-4357) or visit www.jamaicatax.gov.jm
