TAJ to open more Tax Offices on Saturdays as Traffic Ticket Amnesty Nears End

With just two (2) weeks remaining until the October 31 close of the Traffic Ticket Amnesty, Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising that it will operate three (3) additional offices on the last two Saturdays of the month, October 21 and 28, to accommodate motorists paying their outstanding traffic tickets. The additional Tax Offices that have been identified are:

• Port Maria
• Santa Cruz
• Kingston

These will be in addition to the seven (7) Tax Offices of St. Andrew, Montego Bay, Mandeville, Savanna-la-mar, Spanish Town, May Pen and St. Ann’s Bay, that were opened on previous Saturdays, and will also operate from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Portmore Tax Office will continue its normal Saturday operations from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Since the start of the amnesty on August 2, 2017, and up to mid-October, approximately $223M in outstanding traffic fines have been collected. TAJ is encouraging motorists to pay ahead of the rush expected on Tax Offices during the final days of the amnesty period and particularly on the final day, as it coincides with the GCT monthly filing deadline.

TAJ has in place measures to facilitate persons paying their outstanding traffic fines ahead of the expected rush when the amnesty ends later this month. Motorists have the option of paying online, at their convenience, by logging into the TAJ Enterprise Tax Portal at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm, using their client login or creating an account (where applicable). Once logged in on the eServices page, persons would select the option to paytraffic ticket, enter their ticket number and Driver’s Licence number and pay using a credit card.

Motorist may also pay at any Tax Office, including those that will be open on Saturdays. Designated Tax Offices will also have eSpots available, where customers will be able to pay online using TAJ’s computers.

Taxpayers are reminded that they must have either the ticket number or the traffic ticket itself to facilitate easy payment, whether online or at a Tax Office.
