TAJ Warns of Scamming Activity

It has come to the attention of Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) that there are individuals in the Old Harbour Business district impersonating its Compliance Officers and are demanding individuals to pay over taxes to them or face court action.

TAJ is advising members of the public that no business is to be conducted with persons claiming to represent the tax authority who fail to produce proper identification. These individuals do not represent the TAJ and are not authorized to conduct business on its behalf.

The matter has been reported to the police and Tax Administration Jamaica is working with the authority to address the matter.

Business persons are reminded that if they owe outstanding amounts, they may visit the Tax Office and speak with a Compliance Officer to make an arrangement to pay. Alternately, persons may create a payment plan using the Revenue Administration Information System (RAiS) on the TAJ website www.jamaicatax.gov.jm.
