Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is undertaking a major upgrade of its web services, which requires that the Jamaica Tax Portal be taken offline between 12:01 am Saturday January 31 to 11:59 pm Sunday February 1, 2015. As a result, all online transactions, including filing of tax returns, payment of taxes and fees, as well as the Property Tax query feature, will not be available to the public during this period. However, persons will still be able to get information, as well as to download and print forms as the corporate website will remain operational.
A new Enterprise Portal, integrating TAJ’s web services, will be available once the system is brought back online. It will provide taxpayers with an even better user experience through seamless online interaction with the tax authority, across its various web platforms. These service enhancements form part of the tax administration’s continued effort to encourage voluntary compliance and improve efficiency.
The upgrade work is being undertaken as the administration prepares to rollout Phase 1 of its new Revenue Administration Information System (RAiS), set for February 9, 2015. At that time RAiS will be integrated into the new Enterprise Portal and will allow users to access the enhanced and new online services related to General Consumption Tax (GCT), Special Consumption Tax (SCT), Guest Accommodation Room Tax (GART) and Telephone Call Tax (TCT). Taxpayers will also be able to use a single sign-on to access the full range of online services offered by TAJ.
The public is however advised that until the RAiS rollout on February 9, they will not be able to carry out any online transactions related to GCT, SCT, GART or TCT. Filing and paying of these tax types will continue to be available at any Tax Office.
For further information persons may contact the Tax Administration’s Customer Care Centre at 1-888-Tax-Help (1-888-829-4357) toll-free or visit our website www.jamaicatax.gov.jm.
