Tax Administration Jamaica Hosts OECD/CARICOM Regional Meeting

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) will co-host along with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) approximately 80 members from jurisdictions across the Caribbean, as part of a three day regional meeting in Kingston, Jamaica, November 22-24, 2022. The technical discussions will be facilitated by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and serves as a tool for building on the outcomes of the meetings of the CARICOM Council for Finance and Planning (COFAP) that took place on July 3 and September 23, 2022.

Discussions and deliberations will take place on key tax and development opportunities and challenges facing Caribbean economies, how they relate to developments in the global tax landscape, and a vision for how the OECD can re-engage with the Caribbean to support tax policymakers and administrators.

The keynote address is to be delivered by Jamaica’s Minister of Finance and the Public Service, The Hon. Nigel Clarke, which will set the tone for the various sessions and panel discussions, as well as a business roundtable engagement with the local and regional business community. 

Jamaica’s participation will be from the country’s senior technocrats and policy officials from Tax Administration Jamaica, the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, Tax Policy and the Revenue Appeals Divisions, engaging in working level discussions, with a goal to furthering the dialogue on, and the implementation of the two-pillar solution to address the tax challenges, of the digitalizing of the global economy being put forward by the OECD.
