Tax Delinquents Arrested in Central Jamaica

As Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) continues to ramp up compliance, its Special Enforcement Team (SET) recently conducted operations in Manchester and Clarendon, jointly with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to recover outstanding taxes of approximately $13.1M. This resulted in full payment from several taxpayers.

Among the list of tax delinquents were business operators Bunny Rose, Vaughn Fletcher, Tyrone Hartley, and Sydney McPherson. Additionally, execution of warrants of disobedience were served on Ian Myers, Wengsheng Su, Winston Russell, Donna Lyn, Martin Lilly and Robert Taylor, who were all taken before the Parish Courts for failure to show on their court dates.

They were all subsequently offered bail.

Tax Administration Jamaica continues to increase its enforcement activities against chronically delinquent taxpayers with a raft of measures under the Tax Collection Act which includes the seizure of assets and garnishment to recover outstanding taxes.

Persons are urged to seek dialogue with TAJ to discuss payment arrangement facilities to remain compliant, as robust enforcement action will follow once all means to collect the outstanding amounts have been exhausted.
