Tax Offices Remain Closed Today

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising the public that its locations will remain closed today in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl. All tax and business offices with the exception of the Cross Roads location, are expected to reopen tomorrow Friday, July 5 (8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.). The Authority is currently involved in restorative activities to bring back its operations to normalcy. These activities include:

• Determination of staff readiness to operate locations
• Procedures to bring systems safely back online
• Impact assessment of facilities to address the identified issues

During this period, customers may avail themselves of a range of online payment options, which include via the TAJ Direct Funds Transfer process for business-related tax payments. These are in addition to customers being able to make payments via the Tax Authority’s website www.jamaicatax.gov.jm using a credit card, or other banking card with credit card feature.

Additionally, taxpayers can utilize Scotia Online and Mobile App, as well as being able to make tax payments via the National Commercial Bank, as the respective clientele are able to use their online banking platforms by adding TAJ as a Payee.

These online service options include filing and payment of business-related taxes and deductions, payment for Driver’s Licence renewal, Fitness Certificate, Traffic Ticket, and Property Tax, as well as electronically querying Property Tax liabilities.

Persons may encounter service delays at some locations as TAJ works to restore its operations to normalcy in the shortest possible time. Tax Administration Jamaica apologizes for the inconvenience caused, and encourages all citizens to take the necessary precautions to be safe at this time.
