Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) wishes to advise employers that statutory deductions (S01) for October are due on Monday, November 15, 2021.
Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) wishes to advise employers that statutory deductions (S01) for October are due on Monday, November 15, 2021. This is a result of the usual due date of the 14th day of the month falling on the weekend. Taxpayers will therefore be allowed to submit their October S01 the following business day, Monday, November, 15 without incurring any penalty.
Taxpayers are reminded that they have several payment options at their fingertips, online via www.jamaicatax.gov.jm, using a valid credit card or other payment products with credit card features, such as a Visa debit card. Scotiabank customers are also able to use Scotiabank’s electronic funds transfer via TAJ’s website, which allows users to make an ACH payment from their bank account, directly to TAJ's bank account up to a maximum of $99,999,999.00, as well as via the National Commercial Bank’s online platform by adding TAJ as a payee. Persons may also opt to use the new Direct Funds Transfer process that allows them to make transfers from any commercial bank to TAJ’s bank account, and then generate their own receipt on the TAJ website.
Additionally, employers can benefit from the employment tax credit if they make their payments on time. Eligible persons MUST file and pay their monthly statutory payroll deductions (S01) on time. Such employers may claim the total amount of payroll statutory contributions for Education Tax, NHT, NIS, and HEART, that is, both the employee and employer portions, which have been declared and paid on time for that year.
The maximum amount that can be claimed is thirty percent (30%) of the Income Tax payable in the year of assessment for unregulated entities.
